How to Report Internet-Related Crime

Internet-related crime, like any other crime, should be reported to appropriate law enforcement investigative authorities at the local, state, federal, or international levels, depending on the scope of the crime. Citizens who are aware of federal crimes should report them to local offices of federal law enforcement.

Some federal law enforcement agencies that investigate domestic crime on the Internet include: the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the United States Secret Service, the United States Customs Service, the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). Each of these agencies has offices conveniently located in every state to which crimes may be reported. Contact information regarding these local offices may be found in local telephone directories. In general, federal crime may be reported to the local office of an appropriate law enforcement agency by a telephone call and by requesting the "Duty Complaint Agent."

Each law enforcement agency also has a headquarters (HQ) in Washington, D.C., which has agents who specialize in particular areas. For example, the FBI and the U.S. Secret Service both have headquarters-based specialists in computer intrusion (i.e., computer hacker) cases. In fact, the FBI HQ hosts an interagency center, the National Infrastructure Protection Center (NIPC), created just to support investigations of computer intrusions. The NIPC Watch number for reporting computer crimes is 202-323-3205. The U.S. Secret Service’s Electronic Crimes Branch may be reached at 202-406-5850. The FBI and the Customs Service also have specialists in intellectual property crimes (i.e., copyright, software, movie, or recording piracy, trademark counterfeiting). Customs has a nationwide toll-free hotline for reporting at 800-BE-ALERT, or 800-232-2538.

The FBI investigates violations of federal criminal law generally. Certain law enforcement agencies focus on particular kinds of crime. Other federal agencies with investigative authority are the Federal Trade Commission and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.\

Many state and local entities also investigate and prosecute computer-related crimes. The National Association of Attorneys General (http://www.naag.org) has compiled a list of prosecutors and investigators from state and local law enforcement agencies who are responsible for the investigation and prosecution of computer and computer-related crime within their respective jurisdictions. More information on the NAAG's Computer Crime Point-of-Contact List CCPC is available from the NAAG website. (Please note that this list has been compiled for the use of law enforcement and prosecutors, and that many of the contacts on the CCPC list are not authorized to respond to general questions of law from the public or to provide legal advice on specific issues and cases. Members of the public seeking to report a crime, or seeking assistance relating to the investigation or prosecution of a computer crime, may contact the police department within the county, state, or other jurisdiction where the criminal activity is occurring, or the FBI)

So please if you feel there is any internet crime including Let's Talk BlogTv we are not asking you, we DEMAND you to please take the appropriate steps to STOP THESE CRIMES.

Out of curiosity -- you say you've been submitting all your photo evidence to "the authorities." How many have they tracked down so far? How many blogtv accounts have you been able to successfully block/ban? How many pervs have been removed from their site? In just over a month's worth of collection, is there no update on any of the cases you've opened?

To Anon.

We are a reporting site.

We send via email what the authorities have asked for.

We do not block accounts at BlogTv that would be BlogTv mods.

Like most investigations we do not think the investigators reveal such information as to where they are in the investigations, We will ask the people working on this with us and see if we can post their email and or phone number so you can call and cure your curiosity.

So, again, for all your effforts, you have no interest in really becomes of these children?

When you send your screencaps to moderation@blogtv.com, doesn't a reply email come back saying that the account has been blocked or that a user has beenblocked?? I get them all the time on everyone I turn in. That's really odd.

When you send your email through to the authorities -- there hasnt been one instance of confirmed follow-up? Not one? Surely one of those law enforcmenet agencies can give some stats. My agency does. No names, just that of X-number of complaints received during the past month, X-number of cases were opened (locations given); X-number of cases were closed (further breakdown of various reasons how/why cases were closed).... Stats like that do not breach confidientiality of any of the cases opened or closed. Odd how you can't report on any of this.

Of all the other stats you give (i.e., X-number of seconds for a minor's chatroom to fill up with pedos)- not one update? not one update at all??

Hmmm...

Anon, We do not moderate for BlogTv. We are in email contact with outside agencies.

We flag a show, if no 24/7 mods show up what is the reason for the email to be sent, if there are no mods to help the room what makes you think there is a mod to answer am email?

Again is we recieve any contact information we will post it.

does that answer your questions bearbull or shawn or white liar.

lol ... sounds like the same song and dance that certain blogtv'ers were accusing kara/blogtv of.

Just because you flag a room and a moderator does not show up, does not mean that your email will not be read and answered.

So basically, you just said that you flag the room and if no one shows up you just send the pictures to the authorities?

Well, then you are the ones responsible for that show remaining on. If a moderator is on another case and gets to the room you flagged later, then they will not see what you witnessed. They can't just take your word for it. You have to follow through with the steps that they outlined over and over again. Send the evidence to them so that they can ban the accounts.

If you are failing to do this and you are partially responsible for the abuse going on. No matter how you look at it.

Spend less time trying to ruin blog, and actually do something to help it.
